EXCELLENCE AND SATISFACTION
ME.jpg
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

I have been painting and decorating for over 40 years and I know that being patient with preparation is key to obtaining the best finish; basically the amount of time spent on the initial stages becomes evident when the final top coat of paint is applied.

I pay particular attention to the refurbishment of neglected areas that normally get painted over, for instance, around door frames; along tops of skirting boards; inside corners and wall/ceiling joints, dado and picture rail edges. My approach produces clean sharp lines, essential if there is going to be a high contrast between two surfaces such as when a dark blue wall meets a brilliant white skirting board or ceiling. I have also gained experience repairing cracks and gaps that occur with profiled plaster coving, sometimes over 100 years old.

Backdrop painting, scenery and props making began as a hobby but this developed into a working skill. I have produced large scale installations that have been used in Ponds Forge for their corporate Christmas parties. I have designed and created scenery and props used on stage at Sheffield City Hall for quite a few Manor Operatic Society productions and also create custom sized backdrops for various productions at Sheffield Montgomery theatre.

I am attempting to provide my services with the least amount of environmental impact. This begins with the fact that by choice, I have never learned to drive and therefore have always relied on public transport (this also helps me keep prices low compared to other decorators) so I focus my work area to cover homes along tram and bus routes. I am committed to washing and reusing equipment, I do not use disposable plastic tray inserts or leave brushes and rollers to dry out and become unusable. I refrain from using disposable plastic sheeting whenever possible, and if it used I tend to reuse it as many times as is practical. I would always recommend using paint and materials with low Volatile Organic Compounds. Recent developments mean that new formulations of water based acrylic paints give finishes that are now as good as oils based paints.
